Understanding Multiple Undo in FrameMaker 7.2

Understanding Multiple Undo in FrameMaker 7.2

Adobe FrameMaker 7.2 includes multiple levels of undo. This functionality is an extension of the single level of undo that has been available in previous versions of FrameMaker. Therefore, only those features that were undoable in previous versions are undoable in FrameMaker 7.2.

The History palette lists all actions in the order they were completed in the document and may include undone actions that can be reapplied. The last undoable action is highlighted; actions listed before this highlighted item are undoable, any actions listed after the highlighted item that include an asterisk ( * ) are redoable. You can click or use the arrow keys to navigate up and down the history list. Steps that do not actually change a document (such as highlighting and copying text) aren’t added to the History palette and don’t affect it in any way.

Non-undoable actions effectively clear the History palette by removing all actions. This prevents you from trying to undo or redo earlier actions that are no longer possible in the present state of the document, and may potentially damage the file. Saving the document is considered a non-undoable action. All saving actions, including Save, Save As, and Auto-Save, clear the History palette.

FrameMaker provides a preference that will warn you if you try to perform a non-undoable action. For more information about enabling this preference, see the Related Documents section of this document.
