Photoshop Elements 2  Hand Tool

hand tool icon

Used to move the view of an image
Found at #12 in the Toolbar diagram at left

The hand tool will move the image around like a scroll bar, or paging up or down, but it works in any direction.

To use the hand tool, select it in the toolbar, and then drag the image in the direction you want it moved. You can also temporarily access the hand tool, while using other tools, by pressing the spacebar.

This tool’s keyboard shortcut key is the letter H.

Double clicking the hand tool icon in the toolbox will cause the active image’s magnification to change to fit in the window.

The Navigator palette can also be used for changing the image view.

The illustration below, is the hand tool’s options bar. You can choose different magnifications for the active image by clicking one of the buttons.

Right-clicking on the image when the tool has been selected in the toolbox will get you the same three options.

If you have doodled with a tool’s options and want to get back to the default settings, click that tool’s icon at the far left end of its options bar. Choose either Reset Tool to reset only the current tool, or Reset All Tools to restore default settings to every tool.

Please note that all descriptions, and illustrations featured refer to files which are in Photoshop’s .psd format, and which are in RGB color mode. Other file formats, and color modes may generate different options. Some Photoshop features are not available for images not in .psd format, or RGB color mode. To find what color mode your image is in, choose Image > Mode.
