Learn how to draw a human figure
Hallo, today we are going to practice how to draw a human figure.
It is all about human anatomy and proportions here. Every, every artist should know human body proportions and anatomy. Moreover you should know them so good, that you can draw a proper human figure in several lines, but this takes years to practice.
So let’s try to build our figure.
Here is our document; we will rotate it further on.
Choose a brush; a basic round brush will be ok, but I’m choosing brush #212 here; doesn’t really matter.
There are 2 basic ways to paint a human or almost everything. You should master these 2 methods.
The first one – is line drawing. It is when you pick a small brush and begin to paint the contours of the object. This technique is very powerful and you should know it like, like 2 x 2 = 4.
The second one is when you are beginning by filling the imaginary object with basic object color and then sculpting, erasing the parts of your silhouette and ending up with your proper shape.
Now these 2 methods are absolutely the things you should master. You will be able you use them depending on the situation and the style of the image.
I’m going to build the image using 2nd method.
I’m just searching for my shapes and proportions.
Now, the first steps are very rough, but you will see some parts of the image that will look familiar at one moment. On this stage I’ve seen the shoulders and the hips. Now, I will keep I mind these parts and stick to them.
Keep in mind all the proportions. Now, the whole arm should not longer than the middle upper lecture.
I’m just reefing the shapes. Just trust in what you see. Zoom in – zoom out a lot.
Building hands.
Try to reach that the dimensions of the arms and legs to be equal.
Now
out silhouette is done now. I will choose my custom Brush number 47; it
has angle and size jitter set to pen pressure, and paint some details,
this brush is very good to paint feathers or something like this.
And now some face other details. Select #95 and do some amazing cloth pattern.
And face details with basic 1 or 2 px brush.
Here you can see that I’ve created a top gradient layer. Then I’ve just erased the gradient using my unique samples.
So we are done with this illustration. Practice your anatomy even if it bores you.
Enjoy!
