Interesting gradient technique
Today we are going to do a painting tutorial. We will also study and interesting
gradient technique that I’ve figured out. So enough talking let’s start
Create 2 layer one of which has to be filled with basic black to white gradient.
…filled like so.
Select this gradient to tint the area with some color.
The blending mode is color.
I’ve warped the gradient a little bit.
..A little bit of color correction as well.
Make this gradient now. As you can see the half of the gradient is transparent.
And look here what we can do with this one.
I will leave it like so with a little bit tone correction.
It gives me a filling now that this is some king of theater stage. And it
definitely has to be an actor there.
Here is my actor sketch. As you can see it has a light falling on the shoulders
of the actor.
I’m refining the character a little bit.
So, the next thing I need to do here is to paste some text on the top. I decided
to do it by hand. I’ve found some references for the kanyas.
Here is my brush. I like to keep it flat.
In the very end I’ve merged all the text layers and blended the upper edge. I’ve
also defined these kanyas as brushes and used them on the background patters,
download brushes (brushes121.abr).
And this is the end of this quick tutorial. Hope you learned. It was very fast:
I really liked how the lighting is set on the character; also the value.
So …. Hope you do still practice and remember that this is the only way
