Color Nuke – Special Effects
Color Nuke:
In this tutorial we will make a full of colors wallpaper. I gave Color nuke name to it. And one more thing: I will not give
you very detailed information on this one because you won’t be able to make the exact copy of it anyway. You will probably
make something else, and this is a good thing, because I never copy something from scratch. That is why only the basic moves
will be given here. So let’s go.
Document Dimensions: I prefer Wide format for this one. And of course you won’t be given final image with 300dpi.
I will start from background. Basic operations here: just a gray to white gradient and a little bit of brush erasing with my
flat dot brush.
Gradient settings:

Result:
Now this is a part of preproduction so no cool effects here.
Next thing I’d like to do here is to create some brush tips.
Maybe a couple of effects on the brushes will make the brush look more waves like. I will use twirl effect on one of my
brushes.
So let’s see what our brush can really do. I will be using Wacom tablet for several next moves, so if you have no tablet you
will probably not get the result like I did. Here are my brush settings (for tablet users).
As you have noticed I’ve also set Color dynamics to my brush on, so here are the colors on my brush.
You have to set foreground and background too.
So here are my first brush strokes with these settings that I really like.
Changing the foreground a little bit:
More and more: with a little bit color changes.
Now I will make something with background. I don’t really like that background we’ve made in the very beginning. So I will
create a new layer now and fill it with very colorful rounded gradient.
.. And this is the end of our tutorial. I really enjoyed this one because I found the colors I really like. Don’t think that
the shape is perfect, but still I like it too. I just hope you get the idea of this tutorial…. And I mean the idea but not
the exact stage process. I hope the people who know what is going on here and which are working in the industry learned
something interesting: color variations, PS brush possibilities…etc.
The rest of you who think that the design is all about “cool” 3d like bevel or glow like effects without any shape and color
theory study (for example) ….. Well, so be it.
So thanks for all the people who support me. Thanks to all of you, who know or learning to control the edge between design
and art (in such cases).
For the rest of you Numbs – you just won’t make it! So just practice to control the angles on the drop shadow or bevel and
emboss layer styles settings.
