Lost Shades – Jasmine Tea
Hallo after some time and welcome in making a pack design tutorial. I really did this after drinking a tea in a bottle – you
know. So after that I really wanted to make a packing of my own. It took me less than 2 hours from scratch. I really think if
I would spend about 4 or 5 I could have got supreme quality pack for a tea.
Let’s go.
I really like to have an illustration for my packing. I did fount some references for Jasmine flowers. Now it’s time to paint
them. Paint over is for cheaters) so I’ll start from scratch.
Setting background value: as the jasmine flowers are white – the background should be darker.
Beginning with a rough sketch:
Not 1 – I’d like to do several flowers. Paint each on a separate layer.
Paint the details (zoom only when it is really needed – don’t fall into a digital pit)
Now we will add some colors to the flowers because in this world jasmine can be any color you want:
So set up the brush parameters about so:
Add color:
Here is my final illustration part:
Now let’s make that pack design.
Select n area:
And a fast gradient: 2 gradients – black and white and then orange to transparency (mode set to overlay)
I’d like to ass some yellow: you can leave it like so.
Now I took my initial – bottom – black to white gradient and a pattern brush (or floral, how you maybe call it), selected
smudge tool. And smudge that gradient.
Add flowers – just copy the layers. To paint in the objects rights just from the surface lights (the color matches the background tone) on the objects.
Then comes the text part:
I think I will name the tea like lost shades or something.
To balance the compositions just copy this twirl thing.
The lower text line:
Some additions on the bottom of the pack: this area I think is for describing the product.
And this is it.
Now you know how to create a packing from scratch in about 2 hours. You can make it perfect in one work day in 8 hours: and
this is very fast.
